memprime said: How many litter boxes do you have for your five cats? Do you think you'd ever get more than five cats?

I have one giant litter box that I scoop every day and I change it completely about every three weeks.

I would love to have more cats, but with three of mine being seniors, I worry that they may need vet care as they get older and that’ll cost money. So, I’m keeping it to the cats I have for now. I consider fostering kittens every so often, but Martin’s pretty crotchety and he may not appreciate more hyper babies running around.

(I haven’t been around and I don’t know that I will for a bit. I had family tragedy happen recently so I’m not doing much.)

This isn’t mid-anything. He was just snoozing like this.

He knows he’s not allowed on the desk while I’m eating. He thinks he’s successfully hidden himself and I have no idea he’s up here.

I don’t really try to force them to go or stay anywhere. The house isn’t gigantic, but it’s big enough that they can stay away from each other if they feel like it. Four of them will come into the living room if I have guests over, but Wheatley is a coward who hides under the bed. If I’m the only person there, Uriko burrows into the guest bedroom blankets and avoids the rest of the world, while the other cats sleep where they please.

I could set down a can of wet food to lure them all in, but I have to feed Uriko out of her own bowl a few feet from the other cats or she growls and tries to hiss while eating. Luckily most of the cats are old enough that their destructive tendencies have mostly mellowed. Wheatley doesn’t destroy, he just likes to uproot every rug in the house and open all the cabinets :/
